West Bromwich Albion started the new season of The Championship with a 2-0 victory against Hull City and according to match reports Zoltan Gera - on the right side of the midfield - played very well at the first half.

'It was very important for us to start the season with a win. We had some really nice attacks and I did my best to be the part of them. This time I think I played well but unfortunately we couldn't score for a long period at this game though I also had two efforts' Gera told.

'I think with the performance that we showed in the first half we could be a tough opponent against any other team. It's interesting that [John] Hartson scored our two goals when we weren't on top like in the first 45 minutes.'

'I was working hard and became a bit tired at the end, so my trainer took me off for the last quarter an hour of the game. It was a good feeling to win our first match and I was happy that our fans supported us in The Championship too.'
