Celeste coach Oscar Tabarez admitted that France were the stronger team and deserved to win. "We were lacking what all teams lack when they lose," he said. "We didn't play as well as our rivals. We really made a huge physical effort in the first 20 minutes but then we weren't able to exploit the chances that we had. Then they scored and that had a huge impact.

Egyelőre még nem tudni, hogy marad-e a válogatott élén a szövetségi kapitány, Oscar Tabarez, Suárez ezzel kapcsolatban is véleményt alkotott.

Nagyon nagy szerepe volt a csapat teljesítményében, ezt senkinek nem szabad elfelejtenie. Akkora változást hozott a nemzeti csapat életében, amekkorát nem biztos, hogy egy új ember képes lenne.

A csapat kapitánya, Diego Godin is elégedetten értékelt.

"Természetesen maximalisták vagyunk, így csalódottak voltunk, hogy nem jutottunk az elődöntőbe. Ettől függetlenül remek tornát zártunk és összességében büszkék lehetünk a teljesítményünkre."
