A Bundesliga 5. fordulójának nyitómérkőzésén a Borussia Dortmund hazai pályán 1-0-ra nyert a Hoffenheim ellen.

A Dortmund három győzelemmel és egy vereséggel kezdte a bajnokságot, és a szintén hasonló mérleggel rajtoló Hoffenheim ellen lépett pályára az ötödik fordulóban.

A 16. percben Marco Reus révén szerzett vezetést a Dortmund, a csapatkapitány Julian Brandt kiugratását lőtte közelről a kapu bal oldalába.

A 31. percben nem adott meg a bíró egy egyértelmű 11-est Edin Terzic együttesének, pedig Ozan Kabak kezére pattant a labda a 16-oson belül.

A második félidőben jobban játszott a Hoffenheim, de egyenlíteni nem tudott, így a BVB 1-0-ra nyert, és ha ideiglenesen is, de a tabella élére ugrott.
