A francia pár azért utazott Haitira, hogy örökbe fogadjanak egy gyereket. A szállásuk előtt lőtték le őket.

A gyilkosság vasárnap éjjel történt. A pár a szállása előtt várt, míg sofőrjük kinyitott egy kaput, és eközben

egy elhaladó motorról tüzet nyitottak a két franciára.

A sofőr vallomása szerint legalább ketten voltak az elkövetők.

A rendőrség feltételezése szerint rablás lehetett az indíték, ám a gyilkosok nem zsákmányoltak semmit. A francia külügyminisztérium közölte, hogy együttműködik Haiti hatóságaival a nyomozásban.
