Born in 1958. Full-time professor at Semmelweis University. His field of research covers the operation of stress proteins and network stability. He is the author of eight books and over 160 research articles. His works have been cited more than 1,600 times. In 1995, Dr. Csermely launched a new initiative which to date has provided five thousand secondary-school students with the opportunity to participate in academic research. He holds the offices of Secretary General of the Hungarian Biochemical Society and Chairman of the Cell Stress Society International. In recognition of his scholarly and educational work, a star has been named after him and, along with Sir David Attenborough, he was one of the co-recipients of the Descartes Award granted by the European Union.
