He obtained a degree in 1973 at the Psychology and General Linguistics Departments of Lóránd Eötvös University (ELTE). He received a post-graduate degree in 1983 and became doctor of the Academy in psychology in 1997. He is university professor and head of department at the Information and Knowledge Management Department of the Budapest University of Technology. Also at the University he is director of the Centre of Cognitive Sciences, and professor at the Psychology Department of the Szeged University. He became corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) in 1998. Since 2002 he has been deputy president of the Philosophy and History Department. His most important fields of research include the history of psychology, cognitive science, especially the relationship between language and cognition, the study of the development dysfunctions of the nervous system and cognition.
