Tamás Máray was born in 1964 in Budapest. He completed his university studies at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Budapest University of Technology, where he also gained a second degree in IT and defended his Doctoral thesis.. Currently he is the technical deputy director of the Hungarian higher educational and research network and the National Information Infrastructure Development Programme. He has been teaching information technology and electrical engineering students at the Budapest University of Technology for 15 years. He established Hungary's first web server in December 1993 and among other things, the new Internet protocol. He started the research into introducing the IPv6 in Hungary. He is involved with several domestic and international organisations dealing with computer networks.
