Péter Horn was born in 1942. He is an agricultural engineer, institution director, university professor and rector of the University of Kaposvár. His main research area is applied animal genetics, the improvement of domestic animals by breeding, especially poultry, pork, fish and red deer. Besides research and teaching, he has worked in several countries as a counsellor, including India, Finland, USA, and New Zealand and at FAO. He is the author, co-author and editor of eight books and 29 book chapters in Hungarian as well as in foreign languages. The number of his scientific bulletins exceeds 200, more than half of which are in English. He has given more than a hundred lectures at international conferences in every continent. Péter Horn is married with two children.
