András Falus graduated from the Biology Department of Eötvös Lóránd University (ELTE) in 1970. From 1994 he has been the leader of the Genetic, Cell and Immune Biology Institute of Semmelweise University. In addition to research work he has taught regularly in the field of medical biology (cell biology, genetics) as well as in immunology since 1995 and in medical genomics since 2000. He is a member of a number of domestic and international scientific societies and works on the editorial board of various journals. He has won several international scholarships (Odense, Harvard, Osaka, Bern) and in 1990 he obtained a doctorate in biology. From 2001 he has been corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). He has written almost 300 scientific bulletins as well as course books, articles and books. The Popular Scientist of the Year award in 2001 awarded his educational activity.
