Ernő Mészáros, meteorologist and member of HAS, gives an overview of how the increasingly complex forms of life evolved on our planet. The presence of water, the greenhouse effect, plate tectonics and the presence of the Moonall add to the development and sustainability of the biosphere. Ever since the agricultural and industrial revolutions, human beings have started to intensively manipulate the environment. Scientific research may help to bring human activities in harmony with the environment.
