He was born in Fülek, Slovakia, on 24 April 1938. He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava.
He is author and co-author of some 180 constructed steel structure designs, proposals and expert opinions. He is one of the initiators and co-planners of the reconstruction of the Mária Valéria Bridge and participated in the planning of the Danube bridges in Bratislava and the Danube Bridge to be constructed in Dunaújváros. He is a professor at the Bratislava Technical University and visiting professor at several international institutions.
He is the author of 91 scientific and professional articles and has lectured at 61 domestic and 43 international conferences in Canada, Germany, Nigeria, Japan, Russia, Italy, Singapore, Spain and Finland amongst others. He wrote and co-wrote 12 university study notes, and 4 monographs. His main scientific and research area is the study of theoretical and structural issues of cable structures as well as the diagnosing and reconstruction of steel structures. He is participating as leader or co-leader in 23 research projects related to the above subject areas.
