Az állatok szépségének vagy csúnyaságának megítélése emberi szemmel meglehetősen szubjektív dolog. Az biztos, hogy a galériánkban látható 15 lény szinte minden rondasági toplistán szerepel, sőt, többször meg is nyerték az első helyet, mint például a szinte szétfolyó mélytengeri hal, a blobfish. Természetesen az élőlények szempontjából teljesen lényegtelen, hogy mennyire tartjuk szépnek őket, hiszen nem bennünket akarnak lenyűgözni, hanem a párjukat. Mivel valamennyi már sok tízezer éve fennmaradt a Földön, ezért biztosan kijelenthetjük, hogy evolúciós szempontból sikeresek, még ha a mi esztétikai érzékünk szerint nem túl szemet gyönyörködtetőek.
