Hiába győzte le a Minnesota Timberwolves a LeBron James nélkül játszó Los Angeles Lakerst az NBA-ben, alig egy órával a meccs után kirúgták Tom Thibodeau vezetőedzőt, aki egyben a csapat szakmai elnöke is volt.

A minneapolisiak 108-86-ra nyertek, de ez már nem sokat segített Tom Thibodeau helyzetén, aki a második legtöbb győzelmet hozta a klubnak, mérlege azonban mégis 97 győzelem és 107 vereség, ezt pedig nem tűrte tovább a vezetés.
